Who else would use last year’s sniper attacks in DC or the selling of chemical weapons to Hussein as admittedly somewhat perverse plot devices? Or have a team of villains called "Euro-trash" (which includes "Oxford Blue," described as having "ferocious violence with a boyish stammer and a predilection for black hookers.")? Or have a Princess Di-esque character as leader of a superhero group, redesigning their costumes in "stunning ethnic lycra with bold highlights"?

- january 28, 2004: The Triplets of Belleville: Tres Chic, Tres Cuckoo | link to unedited review
Although the French animated film “The Triplets of Belleville” is not as mind-blowingly unique as some reviewers have gushed, there is no doubt that it is one of the best animated film to come along in years. Whereas Disney and Pixar and their imitators have made an industry of formulaic films crammed with cookie-cutter characters, one-line throwaways, and a wearisome deluge of references to pop culture and other films, the humor of “The Triplets” is more thoughtful, universal, and timeless. Like the Wallace and Gromit shorts, Triplets combines heady doses of absurdity and farce, thoroughly leavened with a natural and charming whimsy.

[blech! i'm definitely not the one responsible for the horrible subhead. grr.]
Craig Newmark, the man behind the craigslist phenomenon, began the site in San Francisco in 1995 in an effort to combat the coldness of keys clicking in isolated rooms with the warmth of real human contact.

Still, the new songs, while saccharin, shallow, and at times
incoherent in their meandering, are generally pleasing.

PetOffice even sells "Meowlingual", Japanese company Takara's newest
