this is funny. the folks over at rottentomatoes.com has archived loads of movie reviews from the tech, and i even have a page w/ links to some of my reviews. a lot of my reviews are also located on rottentomatoes' main mit tech page. haha -- i'm famous.
to make writing these things more entertaining for myself i have a tendency to slip in random little spiel which usually, but not always, gets past the editors. i thought i'd highlight some of them below the relevant review. i've also included some other choice excerpts and comments as well.
also, just fyi, i'm not the one who made up the cheesy subheads prior to the tigermilk review (which was when i found out i was allowed to submit my own subhead) except for the dan emery concert review. and if you see any weird transitions, spellings, or grammar, it's the fault of the editors, not me! ;) ...

In a completely baffling but surprisingly palatable change the playful, flirtatious Southern Rogue has been transformed into a reclusive goth chick (who has a crush on Cyclops no less, probably because the former Wolverine-Jean Grey-Cyclops love triangle would have been too pedophilic here).
"All in all, Vespertine may not be the immediate favorite or the
undisputed masterpiece of Bjork's four albums, but listeners will
be compelled to return to it again and again to revel in the Icelandic
musician's gorgeous night world."
"The general map of the EP travels the shape of an inverted parabola in that the songs progress from mostly careless and sunny to the depths of despair and then back up again to end on an angsty but sweet note."
"And of course there's the obligatory pregnancy montage, which thankfully ends before we have to endure the 'baby grows up and daddy learns to change his smelly diaper' sequence."
"There are a few good reasons to spend eight bucks and two hours seeing it. First, if you need an eye-candy fix after spending too much time on MIT's campus there's the harem of gorgeous, extremely well-groomed men that accompany the luminous Madonna throughout the movie ..."
"Newcomer Malcolm Stumpf does a great job as the six-year old son, and a memorable moment is the one in which he explains to his father that he's heard that being gay is 'when two boys kiss and then go to the opera.'"
"All in all, although this certainly isn't 'the next best thing', it's better than tooling 6.170 or sitting through Madonna's rendition of "American Pie."
'Tori Amos's eloquent quote from the joint May 1994 interview with Bjork and P.J. Harvey directly applies to her relationship with Alanis as well: 'We have tits. We have three holes. That's what we have in common. We don't even play the same instruments.'"
"... why the concept of Tori and Alanis in concert together was a bad
idea. Other examples included the odd looks Alanis fans gave to Tori
fans, the latter dressed in fairy garb or in all black -- and the just
as odd looks given back to the Alanis fans, who were dressed in
'normal' clothes."
"Also, they'll be playing at the Kendall Cafe ... this Friday, March 12. Be there, or be a lonely pygmy chimpanzee with no one to kiss on a Friday night.
